The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own caseload, providing systematic and specialist assessments, consultations, and evidence-based treatment services to children, adolescents, and their families.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing reports and maintaining written records of assessments, clinical interventions, and consultation meetings.
- Working within the guidelines of Clinical Governance and employing AWP Trust policies.
- Participating in Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) in the delivery of Tier 3 CAMHS.
- Carrying out specialist urgent assessments of a young person's mental health needs and associated risk when required.
- Working with children, young people, and their families to promote opportunities for their maximum engagement and involvement in formulations or care plans.
- Being accountable for professional actions without direct supervision and leading and participating in joint complex assessments with other disciplines and agencies.
- Assessing child safeguarding issues for each case and practicing within local safeguarding guidelines.
- Ensuring throughput of clients and creating regular assessment slots in work schedules.
- Liaising closely with our partnership agencies of Education, Social Services, and the Voluntary Sector.
- Participating in suitable clinical supervision and ensuring that time is available to undertake this effectively.
- Developing, supporting, and participating in audit as requested.
- Exploring, researching, and developing further innovative ways to promote positive mental health in children and young people.
The ideal candidate will have a professional qualification leading to registration with a professional body, such as Mental Health Nursing, Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, or Child Psychotherapy, and at least 2 years of post-qualifying experience in mental health nursing or equivalent.
Desirable criteria include evidence of post-qualification training and development and experience of clinical supervision.
