We are seeking highly qualified researchers to join our team at the Faculty of Classics, Ioannou Centre for Classical and Byzantine Studies, Oxford.

Project Overview

Crossreads: Text, materiality, and multiculturalism at the crossroads of the ancient Mediterranean is a 5-year ERC funded project. The project aims to develop and analyze a comprehensive corpus of written documents from ancient Sicily, offering a coherent account of interactions and interplay of linguistic and textual material culture over 1,500 years.

Researcher Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive open-access corpus of epigraphic texts in TEI-EpiDoc
  • Work on the first work-package, completing the development of the corpus
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and other researchers on the project

Requirements

  • Doctorate or close to completion in a related field
  • Specialist knowledge in epigraphic studies
  • Working knowledge of at least one ancient language (Greek, Latin, or Phoenician)
