Job Overview

As a key member of the Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture team, we are seeking a highly skilled Planning Engineer to assist in the development and monitoring of the construction programme. This role will ensure compliance with the company's planning standards and HS2 requirements, providing a safe, efficient, and cost-effective programme that meets all required access dates, milestones, and key dates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior Planning Engineer/Planning Manager to develop and maintain the Asset Structure, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), calendars, and dates used by the company, aligned with the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and Employer's Data Dictionary.
  • Contribute to the development of cost and resource-loaded construction programmes during the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Stage One, ensuring timely submission in accordance with required delivery milestones.
  • Ensure the Construction programme meets all required access dates, milestones, and key dates in compliance with the Employer's Planning requirements, contract data, and works information.
  • Participate in the assessment of programme risks and programme risk analysis, including the development and implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Interface with other functional teams, including the BIM Team, design team, estimation, and construction execution.
  • Adhere to BIM team requirements and integrate the construction programme into the BIM model.
  • Monitor programme progress and regularly update the construction programme during Stage Two, including forecasting potential problem areas and proposing mitigation measures to the Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Project Controls Manager, Reporting Manager, and Change Management in all related construction programme matters.
  • Liaise with the client's construction planning team, stakeholders, and other works packages to communicate the company's Construction Planning approach and ensure the sharing of best practice, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Pursue excellence and continuous improvement of the company's construction planning approach, modifying standard processes and procedures for effective and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or an appropriate professional qualification.
  • Prior experience in planning functions in civil engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of the development and implementation of Asset structures, Planning Standards, WBS, and Planning processes in a BIM environment.
  • Competence in Primavera P6 and Tilos.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Environment, and Risk Management.
  • Strong communication skills.
