POSITION: ADVANCED PHYSIOTHERAPIST IN INTENSIVE CARE

This role is a temporary position designed to cover maternity leave.

We are pleased to present a unique opportunity to engage in Scotland's premier ECMO facility, delivering specialized support to patients requiring ECMO interventions. Our critical care services are currently operating across two dedicated areas, accommodating a combination of level 2 and level 3 patients, with around 40 mixed critical care beds and up to 6 designated ECMO beds.

We seek a highly driven and passionate Physiotherapist to co-lead our vibrant ICU Physiotherapy Team, providing care for ICU patients, surgical High Dependency Unit (HDU) patients, and ward patients from surgical disciplines, including head and neck surgery and general surgical specialties. Candidates should possess prior experience in critical care settings, specifically in level 2 and level 3 environments.

This position requires outstanding teamwork, communication, and interpersonal abilities. Ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the capacity to work independently within a bustling team atmosphere.

As part of your responsibilities, you will manage a complex clinical caseload from initial assessment through to discharge or transfer of care. Regular supervision and performance evaluations will be provided, and you will actively participate in service enhancement, audits, research, and evidence-based practices.

You will also be responsible for mentoring and supervising fellow physiotherapists, physiotherapy students, and members of the Multidisciplinary Team, as well as contributing to the training of staff on call and during weekends/bank holidays.

This position will involve participation in the hospital's night rota, as well as on-call and weekend respiratory duties.

The acute physiotherapy team fosters a supportive environment, and the successful candidate will need to exhibit adaptability, a collaborative spirit, and a willingness to assist colleagues across various clinical areas.
