We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Physics Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our laboratory staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our physics, geology, and chemistry laboratories.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lab Preparation and Maintenance: You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring that all necessary materials and supplies are available for laboratory sessions.
- Assisting Instructors: You will work closely with instructors to assist with laboratory sessions, providing technical support and guidance to students as needed.
- Inventory and Maintenance: You will be responsible for performing regular inventory checks and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
- Developing New Lab Activities: You will participate in the development of new laboratory activities, working with instructors to design and implement engaging and effective learning experiences for students.
- Additional Duties: You may be assigned additional duties as necessary to support the smooth operation of the laboratory.
Requirements:
- Knowledge and Skills: You will possess a strong understanding of laboratory equipment and procedures, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer Literacy: You will be proficient in basic software programs and have experience with computer-aided laboratory equipment.
- Problem-Solving Ability: You will possess good problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and independently.
- Interpersonal Skills: You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with instructors, students, and other laboratory staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Physical Science Lab Preparation: You will have experience in preparing and maintaining physical science laboratory equipment and materials.
