Lab Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lab Technician to join our team at PA Consulting. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for conducting experimental work and evaluating test samples to facilitate the fast-moving dynamic development of dry moulded fibre technology.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct day-to-day lab-scale hands-on activities with limited supervision.
- Prepare samples through various processing steps involving mechanical processing and chemical treatment.
- Evaluate mechanical and chemical properties of samples using standard and non-standard lab testing equipment.
- Measure and record data, maintain records and report results to the wider team, interpret experimental data and observations, and participate in internal technical discussions.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, including chemicals and equipment, and perform other clerical tasks as necessary.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, COSHH and risk assessments, and keep all equipment and work areas clean and free of debris.
- Report, communicate, and participate in the investigation and resolution of quality, technical, and safety issues that may arise with testing set up, procedures, and equipment.
- A HNC / Level 4 qualification or equivalent in a relevant field, such as chemistry, applied chemistry, material science, or chemical engineering.
- Commercial experience within a production QC or scientific laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical and chemical concepts required to prepare and analyze mechanical and chemical performances in lab.
- Experience working with laboratory and analytical equipment.
- Good basic computer skills with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work with chemicals and follow standard safe handling procedures.
- Experience with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and their development and maintenance.
- Experience in using and maintaining laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Experience with Moulded Fibre manufacturing techniques and processes would be an advantage.
