We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lab Technician to join our team at PA Consulting. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of dry moulded fibre technology.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct day-to-day laboratory-scale activities with limited supervision, including preparing samples through various processing steps and evaluating mechanical and chemical properties.
- Work closely with our lab manager and scientists to develop and implement new testing methods and improve existing ones.
- Measure and record data, maintain records, and report results to the wider team, interpreting experimental data and observations.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, perform clerical tasks, and assist with warehousing and facility-related tasks as needed.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, COSHH, and risk assessments, ensuring a safe working environment.
- A HNC / Level 4 qualification or equivalent in a relevant field, such as chemistry, applied chemistry, material science, or chemical engineering.
- Commercial experience in a production QC or scientific laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical and chemical concepts required to prepare and analyze mechanical and chemical performances in a lab setting.
- Experience working with laboratory and analytical equipment.
- Good basic computer skills with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work with chemicals, following standard safe handling procedures.
- Experience with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and their development and maintenance.
- Experience in using and maintaining laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Experience with moulded fibre manufacturing techniques and processes would be an advantage.
