Lead Research Scientist in Cancer Immunology
2 months ago
Position Overview: We are looking for a dedicated Senior Research Associate to become part of a dynamic research team focused on pioneering stimulus-responsive methodologies for ultrasound-mediated immune modulation within the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford.
Contract Duration: This full-time position is funded through a generous donation and is initially fixed-term for 24 months, with the potential for a one-year extension.
Project Goals: The primary objective of this initiative is to facilitate the creation and clinical application of advanced protein-based ultrasound-responsive particles aimed at triggering immune responses in tumors, thereby improving cancer treatment outcomes.
Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing and executing both in vitro and in vivo experiments to evaluate and enhance the immune-modulatory effects produced by the interaction of ultrasound and protein-based particles.
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a PhD in immunology, cancer biology, biochemistry, or a related field, accompanied by substantial post-doctoral research experience.
Skills Required: The ideal applicant will demonstrate:
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team comprising researchers from physical and life sciences, including engineers, biologists, and clinicians.
- Proven track record of research accomplishments.
- Experience with a wide array of immunological methodologies, including high-dimensional flow cytometry, T cell functional assays, single-cell/bulk RNA sequencing, and spatial biological imaging.
An active UK Home Office animal license is a crucial requirement for this role. Additional expertise in therapeutic ultrasound, cavitation monitoring, in vivo studies, and ultrasound-responsive particles will be considered advantageous.
Application Process: Candidates are required to submit a cover letter, a concise statement of research interests that aligns past experiences with future aspirations in relation to the position, a CV, and contact information for three referees as part of the online application process.
