Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and visionary nursing leader to join our esteemed team as a Lead Nurse. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with fellow nursing leaders, allied health professionals, and the senior management team to empower our clinical teams in delivering exceptional patient care.

Oxford Health Community Rehabilitation Service encompasses multiple inpatient wards across various community hospital locations. Our service provides comprehensive rehabilitation, specialized post-stroke care, support for larger patients, end-of-life care, sub-acute medical treatment, and community admissions through ambulatory care units.

The ideal candidate will be expected to engage with the entire service while holding specific accountability for designated wards. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about this clinical setting, ambitious, innovative, and possesses robust clinical knowledge.

As the Lead Nurse, supported by the senior leadership team, you will champion quality and safety governance, ensure adequate staffing levels, oversee operational performance, and spearhead quality enhancement initiatives within the service. This role is crucial in collaborating with our system partners to create seamless care pathways throughout the patient's journey, available seven days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible and approachable clinical leadership to staff delivering care within Oxfordshire Community Hospital services, setting a high standard for clinical excellence.
  • Drive improvements in patient experience and safety within community hospital services, responding effectively to patient feedback and concerns regarding clinical standards.
  • Collaborate with other nursing leaders and allied health professionals to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement across all inpatient settings.
  • Guide staff in maintaining both clinical and non-clinical care standards, implementing service enhancements, and ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Work proactively with clinical and operational managers to cultivate a high-performance culture regarding referral pathways and discharge processes.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure that Community Hospital Services are fully developed to meet the needs of the local population.
  • Act as a deputy for the Senior Nurse and Head of Service at key strategic meetings as necessary.
