The Opportunity

Abbott Core Diagnostics is seeking a Bid Management Specialist to join our team. This position will report to the Manager of Enterprise Accounts and is designed to leverage extensive expertise in contract management, proposal development, and the collection of essential commercial and technical data for contract and bid preparation.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Field-based Sales Team, known as the Enterprise Team, to enhance their efforts in securing and maintaining business. Coordinate both internal and external processes to facilitate the Sales Cycle, Tender procedures, and the tender award phase in conjunction with the Enterprise Team. Act as a crucial contributor in securing tendered and RFP business by working closely with the Enterprise Team. Assess, analyze, and support the delivery of intricate pathology laboratory solutions across core Blood Sciences and a comprehensive range of pathology services, integrating both Abbott and third-party offerings. Oversee all tender opportunities from the initial sales cycle through to post-award handover, allowing the sales team to focus on value-added sales activities. Deliver thorough training and guidance to the Enterprise Team regarding the Tender Process and TenderEyes platform.

Required Qualifications

A degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in a scientific or business-related field.
• Project management credentials are advantageous but not mandatory. Experience in laboratory medicine is preferred, whether from the NHS, private laboratories, or the commercial sector. Familiarity with Tenders/RFP/Bid writing and Sales Proposal processes is desirable, along with experience in TenderEyes or SharePoint. Strong communication and leadership abilities. A collaborative team player who excels at completing projects to a high standard within tight deadlines. Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

Additional Responsibilities

Lead and manage the tender process alongside the Enterprise Team, including opportunity tracking. Participate in all necessary external customer engagements with the Enterprise Team. Document and distribute meeting minutes to the team and maintain records on the Tender Portal (TenderEyes). Assist in field visits with the Enterprise Team to identify current third-party solutions as needed. Develop strategic solutions with the Enterprise Team for comprehensive pathology tenders that involve multiple third parties, ensuring alignment with customer technical, contractual, and financial requirements. Aid the Enterprise Team in managing pre-tender activities and provide sales and technical insights to enhance the likelihood of success in tender/RFP submissions. Identify and pursue all potential opportunities, including frameworks and tenders. Provide leadership from a tender documentation and project management perspective on a range of opportunities, from small single instrument tenders to large multisite, pan-pathology tenders, with values ranging from £125K to over £500m, as experience allows. Manage Abbott's relationships with third-party suppliers to secure optimal bids, including providing training and support for technical responses. Assist the Enterprise Team in transitioning successful bids to the Implementation Team, Contracts Team, and Customer Experience Team to ensure seamless execution.
