About the Role

Framestore is seeking a skilled FX Artist to join our Immersive team in London. As a key member of our team, you will work on exciting Immersive projects that bridge the gap between VFX and Realtime workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with FX TDs and Technical Artists to deliver high-quality FX elements for projects
  • Create particle, rigid-body, fluid, cloth, fur, and hair simulations or animations using Houdini and Maya
  • Develop lighting and materials that work seamlessly with FX to produce stunning rendered images or runtime content
  • Utilize Unreal Engine and Niagara to execute Realtime elements
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure shots are delivered to the highest standard
  • Design and create images, elements, effects, pipelines, tools, and techniques
Requirements
  • Previous experience with Unreal Engine and Niagara
  • Excellent knowledge of Houdini
  • Thorough understanding of simulated and procedural FX techniques and technologies
  • Experience producing effects for environments such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, destruction, and explosions
  • Good understanding of animation and the entire visual effects process within Games, VFX, or adjacent industries
  • Familiarity with pipeline issues, especially working between multiple packages
  • Strong understanding of flipbook animation and vertex animation
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of other simulation packages, such as EmberGen
  • Experience with other render packages or Realtime engines, such as Unity or 1st party
  • Familiarity with UE Blueprints
  • Strong Vex, hscript, Python, and/or Mel scripting skills
Work Arrangements

Framestore offers a flexible work arrangement, allowing employees to split their work time between home and office. While working from home for most of the week is feasible, attendance at team meetings held in our London office will be required.
