About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal HV Cable Design Engineer to join our Energy Networks team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering outstanding projects and contributing to the success of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a lead cable engineer in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with the scope, budget, and timescale requirements.
  • Deliver concept design, FEED, feasibility, and detailed design projects and bids for clients, producing or reviewing the HV cable aspects of different projects.
  • Ensure that projects are delivered to the satisfaction of the client, attending design review and hazard review meetings, and producing HV cable design packages as required.
  • Attend site visits, FAT, and SAT, and commissioning as required, and participate in industry working groups such as CIGRE and IEEE.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders, and contribute to the development of external and internal relationships.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Chartered Engineer through the IET is desirable.
  • Experience in the design, manufacture, and testing of HV cables for use in HVAC and HVDC projects, both onshore and offshore.
  • Experience in HV cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP), and an understanding of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies.
  • Experience of witnessing 3rd party cable activities, such as testing, installation, and transportation.
  • Experience of large, technically complex cable projects, and the willingness to travel as projects or clients dictate.
