As a HV Electrical Power System Study Engineer, you'll work with a variety of clients on exciting projects, including transmission and distribution planning, load and generation interconnection, and the integration of renewables. Your expertise will be essential in preparing simulation study models and carrying out power system studies, including grid compliance studies for wind, solar, and hybrid projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth simulations and analytical studies for transmission and distribution planning, load and generation interconnection, and the integration of renewables.
  • Prepare simulation study models and carry out power system studies, including grid compliance studies for wind, solar, and hybrid projects.
  • Perform steady-state and dynamic power flow analysis, fault ride-through studies, short-circuit calculations, power quality analysis, and electromagnetic transient analysis (EMTP).
  • Dynamic simulation of networks involving HVDC, FACTS, and inverter-based generation.
  • Carry out protection calculations, including overcurrent and earth fault protection coordination for transmission and distribution networks, unit protection calculations for transformers, motors, busbars, and generators.
  • Lead and carry out consulting, research, and development study projects.
  • Analyze study results and recommend solutions, discuss results with clients, and prepare study reports and technical documentation.
  • Respond to requests for proposals (RFPs) and prepare proposals and estimation of man-hours.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide training on subject matter expertise.

Essential Requirements:

  • Masters or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant industrial experience.
  • Knowledge of grid codes and power electronic converters.
  • Expertise in system study software, such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT, and PSSE.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and other system study software.
  • Competency in Python coding.
  • Experience working on traction simulation studies.
