Position Overview

Role: Communications Systems Engineer

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

A valid UK Driving License is required.

We seek an individual with experience in 2nd Line Radio Services, particularly in maintenance and troubleshooting. This role operates in a dynamic environment, necessitating the ability to prioritize effectively amidst changing demands.

This position is focused on providing 2nd Line support for national radio contracts, with flexibility for on-call duties and overtime as needed.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, candidates must possess current SC clearance, including CTC Enhanced Level 2, or be eligible to obtain such clearances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical support to end users for fault triage and resolution.
  • Provide 2nd line assistance to field engineers regarding radio-related issues.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and optimization of radio networks.
  • Install, configure, and test radio network equipment and software.
  • Repair various handheld and rack-mounted radio devices.
  • Conduct site surveys and system maintenance at customer locations as required.
  • Participate in out-of-hours telephone support as part of a rota.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in 2nd Line Radio repair, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of antenna installation and decommissioning.
  • Familiarity with Tetra, microwave, and DMR systems, including cell enhancement and repeater systems.
  • Understanding of personal and on-site health and safety protocols.
  • Ability to liaise and coordinate with clients and third-party contractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Unix-based systems.
  • General knowledge of RF and electronic testing equipment.
  • Understanding of IP networks and LAN configurations.
