Role Overview:
As an Electrical Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Royal Air Force's operational capabilities. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks that ensure the functionality and reliability of advanced electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized support for ground equipment utilized in various missions.
- Engage in global travel to assist with operations during both peacetime and conflict.
- Oversee the maintenance of cutting-edge equipment, including hydraulic systems and medical apparatus.
- Work within dedicated engineering workshops to service equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform necessary repairs.
- Install temporary electrical systems in mobile operational bases as required.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Achieve a minimum of GCSE grade C/4 or Scottish National 5 grade C in English, Mathematics, and an approved Science/Technology subject.
- Possess a Level 3 Qualification in Electrical Engineering, complemented by relevant experience.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Aged between 16 and 47 years (must enlist before turning 48).
- Must be a citizen of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, or a Commonwealth citizen with the right to work.
- Commit to a minimum of three years following specialized training.
- Pass a fitness assessment.
Training and Development:
As part of your career progression, you will receive comprehensive training, including:
- Basic Recruit Training to acclimatize you to military life.
- Foundation Engineering Training to build your technical skills.
- Specialization Training focused on servicing and repairing a wide array of equipment.
Upon successful completion of your training, you will be assigned to your first operational posting, where you will be integral to the maintenance of essential airfield support equipment.
