About the Role

We are seeking an Undergraduate Industrial Placement Materials Scientist to join our Global Respiratory Group at Viatris. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in helping us achieve our mission of empowering people worldwide to live healthier at every stage of life through the development of respiratory medicines.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out analytical activities required to deliver new respiratory products to clinical studies and commercialisation.
  • Execute experiments to generate scientific understanding in development of analytical methods, formulations and processes.
  • Perform analyses related to clinical supplies, stability, and process scale up.
  • Process data: highlight aberrant or suspect results and work with supervisor to investigate.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation in accordance with good documentation practices.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation.
  • Contribute to project delivery by carrying out other tasks (e.g., laboratory housekeeping, ordering, shipping samples) as required.
About You

We are looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

  • Must be registered on an undergraduate chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences related degree program, must have completed at least 2 years of study and must not have graduated at the start of the placement.
  • Must be familiar with the basic principles of analytical chemistry.
  • Must possess good IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Must be able to organise tasks allocated by supervisor and plan own work to consistently achieve output of high-quality results in a timely manner, following established analytical methods and operating procedures.
  • Must have enthusiasm to work in a lab-based role.
  • Must have good written and oral communication.
