We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Bookkeeping Assistant to join our team at Protalent. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for managing payroll for clients, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Process payroll for clients on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Manage payroll activities, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension auto-enrolment.
- Liaise with clients to gather necessary payroll information, resolve queries, and provide timely updates on payroll matters.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to clients, including payslips, P60s, and P45s.
- Maintain accurate financial records for clients, including managing accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and VAT returns.
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial statements.
- Provide support to clients on bookkeeping matters, helping them understand their financial position and offering advice on best practices.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll processing, ideally within an accountancy firm or bureau environment.
- Bookkeeping skills and experience in accounts preparation are essential for full-time candidates.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in handling payroll and financial records.
- Proficient in payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, BrightPay) and accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
- Competitive salary of £30,000 - £35,000 (pro-rata for part-time).
- Flexible working hours with the option to work part-time or full-time.
