About the Role:

We are currently seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join our expanding Research, Technology, and Innovation division. This role involves engaging in applied research to explore and develop cutting-edge technologies and concepts relevant to Thales's diverse application areas. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting fundamental feasibility studies and comprehensive state-of-the-art surveys.
  • Creating proof of concept demonstrators through effective software and hardware implementations.
  • Collaborating with a research team to innovate and validate new concepts and technologies for Thales's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Research Engineer, you will:

  • Perform in-depth feasibility studies and simulations.
  • Develop demonstrators that showcase innovative concepts using suitable software and hardware.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow researchers while also being self-driven to tackle individual projects.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and motivation as an effective team member.
  • Take initiative in executing projects efficiently and responsibly.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative solutions that meet both team and individual goals.
  • Continuously enhance your professional and technical skills while being open to learning new methodologies.
  • Provide accurate project estimates and ensure delivery within budget constraints.
  • Adhere to established processes and project management protocols.
  • Present technical findings during project reviews.
  • Engage in technical discussions with customer representatives to facilitate technology transfer.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess experience in several of the following areas:

  • Mathematical modeling and simulation techniques.
  • Data analysis and data science methodologies.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Mathematica, or similar computational tools.
  • Signal and image processing methodologies.
  • Algorithm development for various systems.
  • Experience with sensor systems (e.g., optical, IR, video, radar, sonar).
  • Software development skills (e.g., C++, Python).
  • Embedded systems programming.
  • Problem-solving using DSPs and/or FPGAs.
  • Knowledge of radio or analog electronics.

Experience and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will typically have 5-8 years of relevant experience in a research or advanced development environment and a solid understanding of Thales's business structure and processes. Proficiency in standard office software tools, particularly Microsoft applications, is also expected.

Candidates should hold an honors degree (minimum 2.1), a master's degree, or a PhD in disciplines such as:

Security Clearance:
