About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Land Acquisition Specialist to join our team at WSP. As a Senior Land and Property Surveyor, you will play a key role in the delivery of land acquisition services for major infrastructure projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiate access to and acquire land for high-profile, strategic infrastructure projects across the UK
  • Secure appropriate land rights for large-scale development projects and provide strategic land advice to our clients
  • Utilize statutory powers and other available mechanisms to acquire land on behalf of WSP clients across highways, rail, water, gas, and renewable energy sectors
  • Negotiate Heads of Terms to secure land for projects in a timely fashion, utilizing the appropriate mechanism
  • Liaise with landowners' land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, key stakeholders, contractors, and clients
  • Identify landowners, occupiers, and other parties that hold a legal interest in land, through interpretation and research of HMLR
  • Manage and settle CPO compensation claims
  • Support and/or develop a team of early-career professionals, providing both technical training and career development support
Requirements
  • Proven track record in the management and delivery of land and property-related services, including land referencing and/or land acquisition processes
  • Experience of negotiating with landowners and knowledge of the legal process for the acquisition of property and rights
  • Experience of managing and settling a range of voluntary and compulsory purchase compensation claims
  • Experience of infrastructure development schemes, particularly in the road, rail, gas, electricity, and renewable energy sector
  • Experience of negotiating commercial terms
  • Knowledge of both urban and rural environments would be desirable
  • A full UK driving license is required
