Creative Arts Facilitator - Summer Camp

Working Hours: 08:30 – 17:30

Compensation: £412.00 – £559.17 per week based on age, experience, and qualifications.

Reporting To: Camp Senior Team, Area Manager, and Central Office. Barracudas is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals and expects all staff to uphold this commitment.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ARTS & CRAFTS FACILITATOR

  • Establish and maintain an inviting Arts & Crafts area that is organized and well-stocked for the children.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe environment for the children under your supervision.
  • Design and implement a diverse range of engaging and age-appropriate creative activities.
  • Provide safety instructions and demonstrate the proper use of equipment while ensuring compliance.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members who may assist during your sessions.
  • Take responsibility for the overall welfare and safeguarding of the children.
  • Ensure that the needs of the children are met with attentive supervision throughout the day, including during breaks and meal times.
  • Create prototypes for display purposes.
  • Encourage full participation from all children in the group.
  • Oversee the Discovery Squad skills builder, ensuring resources and equipment are utilized effectively according to the manual.
  • In larger camps, you may need to collaborate with another Arts & Crafts Facilitator.
  • Ensure the safe operation of equipment used during your sessions.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the site/base rooms and ensure all equipment is properly stored.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Arts and Crafts is essential.
  • Must be 18 years or older by the start of the contract.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
  • Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references is necessary.
  • Must possess enthusiasm, care, organization, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to take initiative.
  • Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete annual Online Training.
  • Participate in an Induction Training Day prior to the first working season.
  • Assist with the end-of-camp pack-up.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations by following instructions and maintaining a proactive approach to safety.
  • Activities organized and delivered must be suitable for the children based on your qualifications and knowledge.
  • Encourage children to engage in new activities and ensure adherence to the activity timetable.
  • Supervise children to ensure safe behavior, always being aware of their whereabouts and communicating daily about expected conduct.
  • Follow all camp protocols, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety guidelines, and best practices in child welfare.
  • Support the team with additional responsibilities as assigned during your contracted time at camp.
  • Serve as a positive role model for children by promoting healthy lifestyles and good hygiene practices.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to the Senior Team or a designated person at Central Office.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
  • Depending on staff availability, you may be required to lead Skills Builder sessions.
  • All staff may be asked to assist with swimming sessions, so bring appropriate swimwear.
