Job Overview

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in collaborating with a team to manage, set up, oversee the distribution, educate on the operation of, and retrieve a variety of medical equipment stored within the centralized Equipment Store, in accordance with the established Operational Policy. Responsibilities include tracking, tracing, and ensuring the timely delivery and collection of equipment. The role requires maintaining an accurate and up-to-date database of equipment locations, while also supporting clinical staff in promoting the effective use of equipment to enhance patient care and prevent complications.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct weekly retrieval of mattress systems from clinical areas for scheduled maintenance and cleaning, maintaining a precise log in the computer system. Regularly assess and coordinate with the Deputy Medical Engineering Manager to adjust maintenance schedules as necessary.

- Upon returning to the Equipment Store, perform condition assessments on equipment and execute secondary cleaning procedures following Trust decontamination guidelines.

- Facilitate the delivery and collection of mattresses, pumps, infusion devices, and TNP pumps to Medical Engineering for repairs and routine servicing, ensuring all new, loaned, or trial equipment undergoes safety testing prior to deployment. Keep computer records current and accurate.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths, or NVQ level 2.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.

Physical and Mental Demands

The role requires physical stamina for tasks such as pushing trolleys loaded with equipment, bending, and working in confined spaces. Mental acuity is necessary to respond to urgent requests from clinical areas and to ensure accurate data entry.

Working Environment

The position involves exposure to various conditions, including handling equipment that may be dirty or contaminated. The use of a Visual Display Unit is required throughout the working day.
