Workshop Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Manager to join our team at Nicholas Associates Group Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of our workshop, prioritizing repairs, and managing our technical resources effectively.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain work flow through the workshop, prioritizing repairs in line with customer and business demands.
- Minimize vehicle downtime by identifying the most economical repair method in terms of time and cost.
- Supervise technical repairs and advise or assist technicians with best repair methods, including performing quality checks of vehicles and vehicle repairs.
- Use in-house IT systems to manage and allocate workshop resources, including validating technician hours and controlling overtime.
- Provide prompt and accurate repair and damage quotations.
- Encourage good workshop practices to provide a safe and tidy, hazard-free working environment, ensuring compliance with our health and safety policy.
- Identify and procure best value vehicle parts and workshop equipment as required.
- Ensure all staff follow company procedures and adhere to servicing and inspection schedules set out by the company.
- Make available to and encourage all workshop staff to read all service bulletins and product updates from manufacturers and internal sources.
- Identify opportunities to explore manufacturer's warranty and goodwill schemes to best advantage.
- Generate third-party revenue from service and repairs for the workshop from new and existing customers, increasing year on year.
- Manage parts ordering, internal stock, and stock from external suppliers.
Requirements:
- Time-served technician with a technical background, ideally in a waste tanker or similar environment, but tanker expertise is not essential.
- Strong experience in communicating with internal and external customers/stakeholders, always with the highest levels of professionalism.
- Experience in managing parts/equipment procurement and parts stocking.
- High level of enthusiasm and commitment to driving 100% customer satisfaction.
- Excellent communication skills/ability to communicate at all levels with good use of questioning techniques.
- Highly competent with IT systems, including MS Excel, managing all technician resource and purchase order raising using internal digital systems.
- High level of organization, ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work.
- Initiative to work autonomously.
- Ability to push back and challenge.
- Analytical and numerical approach to interpreting data.
- Driving License - Full and valid.
