About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Furniture Buyer to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing and selecting a range of furniture products that meet our brand's quality and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Sourcing: Identify and source new products, review existing items, and ensure a competitive edge in the market.
  • Negotiation and Procurement: Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices and terms, and work closely with the merchandising and inventory teams to forecast trends and plan stock levels.
  • Market Analysis: Analyse consumer buying patterns and predict future trends to inform product selection and procurement decisions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly review performance indicators, such as sales and discount levels, to ensure the team is meeting its targets.
  • Trade Fair Attendance: Attend trade fairs to select and assemble a new collection of products that meet our brand's standards.
  • Supply Chain Management: Liaise with shop personnel to ensure supply meets demand, and develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that the products comply with our quality standards and legal requirements.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Buyer, preferably within the furniture or home goods sector.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to network and influence people.
  • Commercial Awareness: Keen commercial awareness and the ability to understand and analyse sales figures.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Decision Making: Ability to make important decisions and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines.
  • Trend Recognition: A flair for recognising future trends.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational skills.
  • Education: A degree in business, retail, or a related field is advantageous.
