**Job Title:** Service Manager for Clinical Genetics and Genomics Laboratory
**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Manager to join our team as maternity cover for 9-12 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Clinical Genetics and Genomics Laboratory, ensuring the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services to meet clinical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- **Monitor Laboratory Performance:** Oversee the throughput and performance of all procedures carried out in the laboratory, ensuring compliance with best laboratory practice and safety standards.
- **Stay Up-to-Date with Clinical Genetics:** Build and maintain a good understanding of the clinical genetics field, scientifically and commercially, nationally and internationally.
- **Contribute to Service Development:** Play an active role in the service, research, and development of the Clinical Genetics and Genomics Laboratory.
- **Administrative Support:** Be responsible for the administrative side of staff recruitment and training, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and maintained.
- **Communication:** Maintain effective communication with users of the service, ensuring that their needs are met and that any issues are resolved promptly.
- **Data Analysis:** Perform analytical and statistical analyses to capture activity and sample processing data, providing insights to inform service improvement.
- **Quality Management:** Assist the Quality Manager in maintaining UKAS accreditation, ensuring that the laboratory meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
- **Financial Management:** Monitor income and expenditure, investigating any causes of variance and making recommendations for improvement.
- **Inventory Management:** Oversee the laboratory inventory, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available and that any issues are resolved promptly.
**About the Clinical Genetics and Genomics Laboratory:** The Clinical Genetics and Genomics Laboratory is a UKAS-accredited medical laboratory, providing state-of-the-art specialist cardiac and respiratory NGS-based genetic testing as part of the London South Genomics Laboratory Hub. We are a partnership of two specialist hospitals known throughout the world for our expertise, standard of care, and research success.
