Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Deputy Quality Manager to join our team. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will assist the Senior Quality Manager in ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects that meet customer specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assurance that effective quality management systems are established and implemented to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Enhance the quality culture by engaging with stakeholders, delivering communications, and conducting site visits.
  • Assist in the delivery of the Nuclear Safety Education Package where required.
  • Provide confirmation that products and deliverables meet specified requirements through certification and verification.
  • Establish and implement a Quality Assurance and Quality Control program that supports local objectives and incorporates a graded approach to inspection and testing.
  • Develop and implement an effective risk-based assurance plan, providing assurance on the ability of suppliers to meet SL and PPP specified requirements.
  • Escalate quality issues to the Senior Quality Manager and/or the PPP/SL Head of Quality.
  • Lead and undertake inspections, audits, and investigations, reporting and implementing lessons learned and improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and report Key Performance Indicators to demonstrate the quality of delivery performance.
  • Identify and implement improvement plans to deliver sustained improvement in performance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and systems, providing coaching where necessary to achieve 'right first time'.
  • Develop and implement project Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans to deliver client requirements.
  • Contribute to and be involved in project start-up meetings, subcontractor pre-contract and pre-start meetings.
  • Liaise with customer personnel on matters of quality and promote best practice solutions.
  • Lead and support the business during internal and external audits.
  • Be supportive of a team-work approach, encouraging cooperative working by being open and honest.
  • Constructively challenge and intervene where quality is being compromised.
  • Monitor and manage adherence to the Project Quality Strategy.
  • Provide assurance that SL and PPP quality requirements are clearly communicated to suppliers, and that suppliers are delivering to our specifications.
  • Enhance the supply chain quality culture through engagement and delivery of communications, briefs, and regular visits.
  • Attend and contribute to all agreed Contract Opening up and Technical Review meetings and review of the associated Contractor/s and where required lower tier sub-contractors management system arrangements.
About the Role

This is a hybrid role, requiring the ability to work both on and off site. The role is based at Cumbria, with occasional travel to Warrington due to project demands. The option to work from home is also available in line with project workload.

Requirements
  • Degree (min 2:2) in a relevant STEM subject, or an equivalent level of qualification and experience.
  • Member of the CQI.
  • Good understanding of corporate strategy, values, and objectives.
  • Typically 10 years' experience in a quality role or closely related environment. Previous experience working within the Nuclear Industry desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience of at least 5 years of managing a team.
  • Trained Lead Auditor (ISO 9001).
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 management systems.
  • Self-motivated, to constantly improve upon established quality standards.
  • Demonstrable experience in construction or civil engineering standards and techniques.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, contributing across the division.
  • Good management skills, with at least 5 years experience of managing a team, with the ability to motivate self and colleagues to achieve high standards of compliance.
  • Good operational planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to ensure standards and specifications are met.
  • Ability to work with colleagues to deliver project and operational performance.
