We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Superintendent to join our team at Valaris. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of our offshore rigs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with Rig Managers to develop and implement safety processes, including training, inspections, and accident investigations.
- Assist in the completion of personal development programs for Rig Managers, including leadership development and formal training.
- Collaborate with Rig Managers to complete special projects and initiatives, as assigned by the Operations Manager.
- Monitor and review rig operating costs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Aid in the reduction of rig personnel attrition, through effective communication and employee engagement strategies.
- Participate in the review and assessment of daily rig operations, providing verbal and written reports to Rig Managers and Offshore Installation Managers.
- Conduct periodic on-site inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Confer with Rig Managers on potential operational problem areas, providing guidance and support to resolve issues.
- Assist in determining general operations effectiveness, partnering with Rig Managers to initiate improvements and implement best practices.
- Coordinate material orders and rig inventory controls, ensuring efficient and effective supply chain management.
- Work with management personnel to develop rig-based employee development programs, including certification programs, team-building initiatives, and employee assignments.
- Participate in monitoring and auditing monthly equipment reports, ensuring accurate and timely data.
- Provide strong customer support, making customer visits and following up on customer contacts, in collaboration with Business Development.
- Share coaching and counseling responsibilities with Rig Managers on employee issues, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Participate in technical operations troubleshooting discussions with Rig and Operations managers, providing expert guidance and support.
- Provide on-site support and assistance for rig moves, as directed by Operations Manager.
- Assist Rig and Operations managers in capital and operating budget preparation, ensuring accurate and timely financial planning.
- Stay informed on governmental, union, labor, safety, and environmental rules and regulations that affect rig operations, ensuring compliance and adherence.
- Support Rig Managers' efforts in adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Serve as Acting Rig Manager during vacations and other absences, ensuring continuity and effective leadership.
- Make operational decisions aligned with Valaris vision, promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and excellence.
- Demonstrate Rig Manager Competencies, supporting the sustaining or enhancing of the assigned asset base to meet Valaris standards and optimize economic return.
- Recommend and coordinate activities necessary to implement improvements, additions, and maintenance functions and systems of assigned assets.
- Coordinate activities necessary to ensure assigned fixed assets remain in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate activities necessary to ensure assigned fixed assets remain functionally consistent with Valaris and industry standards.
- Coordinate the activities necessary to integrate Valaris HSE standards into assigned fixed asset decisions.
- Coordinate, monitor, support, and report to Operations Manager on assigned projects to achieve operational functionality as defined in the scope of work, timing, and budget commitments, and review project results.
- Coordinate activities necessary to maintain the physical integrity of the assets, including making recommendations on enhancements to prolong useful life and improve marketability.
- Recommend asset enhancements that lead to increased efficiency, marketability, and profitability early in the planning phase.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Minimum of years in an operations management function in a business of similar size and complexity.
- Knowledge of and experience with internal controls as they relate to the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO Standards).
- Ability to gather and analyze/synthesize data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis/synthesis process.
- Demonstrated effective leadership and influencing skills and practices.
- Knowledge of financial accounting, purchasing, and management systems.
- Physically capable of being transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level (use financial and logical functions; work with multiple worksheets and workbooks; edit and use macros; import and export information).
- Working knowledge of document control systems and databases.
