We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Depot Operations Manager to join our team at McQueens Dairies. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for leading our depot to excellence in various areas, including health and safety, customer services, financial control, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Depot to Excellence:
    • Effectively manage the depot's operations to achieve excellent standards in health and safety, customer services, financial control, and other key areas.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve depot performance and efficiency.
  • Engage and Motivate Team Members:
    • Engage with colleagues in the depot to maintain high morale levels and identify areas for improvement.
    • Motivate team members through coaching, mentoring, and celebrating their successes.
  • Induction and Training:
    • Organize and control the induction and ongoing training of all employees in conjunction with our Learning and Development team.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Maintain good operating standards using 5S disciplines.
    • Manage a depot-level Profit and Loss center, keeping distribution costs and overheads in line with budget.
  • Communication and Culture:
    • Communicate effectively with all staff through notice boards and meetings.
    • Drive a great culture and performance with assigned KPIs.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Manage the facility in accordance with H&S regulations and technical food safety standards.
    • Ensure all paperwork is disposed, scanned, or secured in line with GDPR.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Background in dairy, food, or drinks distribution preferred.
    • Management experience in a nightshift operation.
    • Exposure to food safety audit standards such as BRC.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • IOSH certified.
    • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Applications (Excel, Word).
