Plant Buyer - Horticultural

Remote Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Plant Buyer to join our dynamic team at a leading Garden Centre Group. As a key member of our buying team, you will be responsible for sourcing high-quality plants from growers across Europe and the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel extensively to source plants from growers, ensuring a constant flow of hardy plant stock to our 65 garden centres.
  • Evaluate plant cost, retail price, and quality to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Maintain precise product and range information within each plant category.
  • Support the development of new product ranges and centres.
  • Conduct market research to ensure products align with the latest trends and produce reports to improve growth opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in the Garden Centre Industry and in-depth knowledge of plants.
  • Strong commercial sense and ability to make strategic buying decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Excel and strong data analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail for documentation and data entry in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (70% of this role will be travelling both domestically and internationally).
