About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team in delivering water industry projects. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical design content of projects, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective concept design solutions that meet project briefs and technical requirements.
  • Lead the delivery of mechanical design outputs for complex plant, including design delivery at all stages from feasibility to detailed designs.
  • Manage and coordinate design outputs produced by local teams and engineers from other water design offices, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure their requirements are effectively communicated and met.
  • Check and approve engineering designs, calculations, and drawings, as well as contract documents and scheme cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM regulations.
  • Manage a team of engineers, including senior engineers, engineers, assistants, and graduate engineers.
Requirements
  • Ability to produce, check, and approve detailed mechanical design outputs for complex plant.
  • Excellent working knowledge of sewage and clean water processes.
  • Ability to develop good practical engineering solutions and think outside the box to provide innovative solutions.
  • Good knowledge of civil and electrical works is beneficial.
  • Ability to produce bottom-up cost estimates and lead numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and team management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
