Aircraft Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Engineer to join our team at London Gatwick. As a B1 Licensed Aircraft Engineer, you will be responsible for supervising a team of Mechanics, inspecting and certifying scheduled maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise a team of Mechanics performing Base Maintenance on customer aircraft.
  2. Inspect and certify scheduled maintenance tasks, defect rectification, modifications, structural repairs, and functional tests on Airframe, Engine, and Electrical systems.
  3. Complete all assigned work in a timely manner to optimize aircraft downtime.
  4. Ensure aircraft technical log book, maintenance documentation, job cards, work packages, and zonal handovers are completed accurately and within prescribed timescales.
  5. Maintain a high standard of husbandry and cleanliness within assigned work areas.
  6. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company processes, and procedures.
  7. Promote a just culture and report all incidents and occurrences in the Boeing Safety Management System.
  8. Highlight any technical issues, discrepancies, or other issues to the Aircraft Check Manager.
  9. Actively support, promote, and contribute to continuous improvement ideas and lean principles.
  10. Assist the management team in the day-to-day running of the London Gatwick Operation.

Requirements:

  1. Hold a valid UK CAA Category B1 Part-66 Licence.
  2. Type rating on one or more of the following aircraft - B737 NG, B777, or B787.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Minimum of 1 year exercising certification privileges with experience working in a Line or Base Maintenance environment.
  2. Demonstrate 6 months recent experience on type and ability to hold and maintain appropriate company authorisations specific to role.
  3. Comprehensive understanding of Part-145 regulations.
  4. Previous experience of using AMOS or other Maintenance Management Systems.
  5. Excellent communication skills.
  6. Effective problem solver with a solution-focused mindset.
  7. Flexible worker who is prepared to adjust working hours to meet operational demands.
  8. Be a team player who will grasp opportunities to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
  9. Proficiency in using Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint and the ability to learn in-house systems.
  10. Meet the requirements to hold a London Gatwick Airport airside pass.
  11. Candidates must have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
