Job Description:The client is seeking support for the Information Governance and Data Protection Team. The role involves handling personal data and sensitive information on a regular basis. You will work closely with colleagues in legal and the customer resolution centre, assisting with the complaints procedure and coordinating responses to members of the public.
Key Responsibilities:- Assisting the Information and Compliance Manager and the Data Protection Officer in managing and maintaining compliance with data protection and Freedom of Information legislation.
- Providing guidance on data privacy legislation and ensuring due regard for risks relating to processing operations.
- Reviewing procedures, policies, privacy notices, and contracts relating to the processing of personal information.
- Monitoring compliance with data protection-related audits.
- Maintaining a register of processing activities and data life cycles, ensuring compliance with legislation.
- Establishing, testing, and monitoring the data breach response process.
- Maintaining a log of any data privacy-related incidents together with tracking resulting actions.
- Issuing relevant data protection due diligence forms.
- Developing and delivering training to ensure that staff are adequately informed of policies and their obligations.
- Previous experience of working in a local authority environment or a data protection function in a relevant public or private organization.
- Confident in handling public inquiries and providing a high level of customer service.
- Relevant qualification and knowledge of Data Protection Act and UK GDPR.
- Understanding of local and national government legislation.
- Excellent IT skills, including SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
