About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Director to join our team at Guild Care. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the management of the finance function, including the preparation of annual operating budgets.

Main Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Provide key financial information to the organization to enable strategic planning for the future of Guild Care.
    • Provide support and guidance to business managers on matters relating to the management, planning, and development and monitoring of the charity's finances.
    • Review and develop Guild Care's financial systems in line with the growing needs of the business.
    • Lead and motivate the Finance team to ensure that they function effectively and that all members are empowered to provide meaningful and timely support within their roles.
  • Financial Management
    • Oversee the delivery of accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
    • Ensure reliable and timely budgets are developed with appropriate assumptions and that they are reviewed regularly and forecast amended.
    • Take responsibility for the delivery and audit of year-end accounts and to be fully knowledgeable and compliant with all statutory and accounting regulations.
    • Ensure that the charity has robust financial systems in place to safeguard its assets and ensure accuracy of reporting.
    • Consistently review internal controls to ensure they meet ongoing operational requirements.
    • Ensure the accuracy of all records and that these are maintained to meet legal and tax requirements to the highest standards operating with a 'best practice' approach.
    • Work with all service managers to ensure that expenditure is maintained at optimum levels to ensure value for money.
  • Supporting Managers
    • Support managers with financial advice and coaching to become better skilled at managing budgets and forecasting etc.
    • Oversight of contracts administration.
    • Dealing with customers on finance and billing matters.
    • Debt chasing including liaising with solicitors.
  • Deputising for the Finance Director
    • Assume financial leadership and day-to-day control of Guild Care in the absence of the FD including reporting to the Board of Trustees.
    • Represent the FD and Guild Care at occasions where the CFO is absent.
    • Support the FD in providing strong values-led leadership to the Leadership Team and others.
Requirements
  • Appropriate accountancy qualifications.
  • At least 5 years post-qualification experience working in an accounting environment.
  • Significant management experience.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Experience in preparing and reporting on budgets, management information, and statutory accounts.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong technical accountancy skills and financial acumen.
  • Good knowledge of company accounting, legal, and tax requirements.
  • Sound analytical and systems skills.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and vision of Guild Care.
  • Resilience and ability to manage a complex and demanding agenda.
  • Ability to think strategically and to leverage opportunities.
