Job Role: Electrical Controls and Automation Engineer

Join Omega Leeds as an Electrical Controls and Automation Engineer and contribute to the success of our global manufacturing company. We are seeking an experienced automation engineer with a strong background in electrical controls to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise to maximize productivity and achieve targets in a high-speed production environment.
  • Support equipment maintenance and ensure the efficient running of FMCG process and manufacturing lines.
  • Improve the reliability and effectiveness of all plant and equipment, optimizing automation as required.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on electrical standards for maintenance improvement.
  • Manage improvements in electrical maintenance strategy, coordinating all electrical asset care improvement programs.
  • Provide reactive support for site automation issues with a clear escalation process.
  • Own automation Capex projects and the site panel risk assessment register.
  • Optimize automated warehouse performance by ensuring hardware and software are performing.
  • Ensure all sites have the required software programs, licenses, and connections.
  • Provide specialist software/automation troubleshooting support.

Requirements:

  • Apprentice trained or graduate engineer in an electrical discipline with an electrical qualification.
  • Automation experience with an electrical bias and PLC skills.
  • Experience as an Electrical Engineer with a background in PLCs and OEM, SCADA preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment including Food, FMCG process, or General Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Proficient in SCADA, Siemens preferred but open to different PLC backgrounds.
  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years working 'hands-on' automation experience, with knowledge/experience in automated warehouse environments.
