Catering Team Leader

Job Summary:
Lancashire County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Catering Team Leader to join our team. As a key member of our catering service, you will be responsible for supervising a team of catering staff at St Bedes High School, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, healthy meals to secondary school children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the ordering of food and materials from suppliers to meet the needs of the catering service.
- Supervise the catering team to achieve client requirements and maintain a high level of service quality.
- Contribute to the development of menus and tariff items that meet the standards and costs set out in the service specification.
- Work closely with the Service Improvement Manager to achieve client requirements and maintain a quality service.
- Assist the Operations Manager in recruiting staff, managing staffing levels, and performance management.
- Communicate effectively with clients and customers in a friendly and caring manner.
- Control stock levels, produce stock returns, and complete relevant weekly and monthly returns to the head office.
- Carry out planned promotions and additional catering activities as directed.
- Maintain specified standards of kitchen and food hygiene and health and safety at work.
- Collect and account for monies from customers and return to the school or bank on behalf of the organization.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
Requirements:
- Ability to lead and supervise a catering team.
- Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative.
- Excellent customer care skills.
- Previous catering, food preparation, and supervisory experience is essential for this role.
Working Hours/Days:
- Monday to Friday - Term time only.
- 35 hours per week, 7 hours each day Monday to Friday, although hours are variable depending on school meal uptake.
