Eastbourne, United Kingdom Sonderwell Full time

Hourly Compensation: £15.23

Location: Eastbourne

Shift Details: 12-hour shifts, times to be confirmed

Schedule: Day shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; 2 weekday night shifts; 2 weekend night shifts monthly

As a Specialized Care Support Worker at Sonderwell, you will have the opportunity to profoundly impact individuals' lives by addressing their complex care requirements and empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. You will be part of a nurturing team that provides comprehensive training and development to equip you in supporting your clients effectively, ensuring you gain the most from this rewarding and meaningful profession.

Your Responsibilities

Recognizing that each individual is unique is fundamental to our care philosophy. The care opportunities we provide vary widely, from accompanying clients to medical appointments and assisting them with daily routines to spending an entire twelve-hour shift supporting them throughout their day. Regardless of the task, your focus will be on meeting the specific needs of each person.

Building rapport with those you care for is essential. Additionally, you will need to manage the physical demands of the role. Experience in the following areas is required:

  • Learning disabilities
  • ADHD
  • Challenging behavior
  • Makaton (preferred but not essential)
  • Seizure management
  • Moving and handling
  • Medication administration

If you possess the patience and adaptability to engage with individuals on their terms, we will support you in delivering the personal care they deserve.

Our Commitment to You

Being a carer at Sonderwell transcends mere caregiving; it involves connecting with people. If you have a compassionate nature and relevant experience, we will provide you with access to both online and in-person training tailored to specific complex care needs, along with opportunities to pursue a relevant NVQ qualification.

Depending on the client's needs, you may work independently or as part of a team. If you are interested and available, you could support multiple clients.

Before commencing your role, you will have the opportunity to meet your client and their family. You will receive ongoing support from a Care Coordinator or Nurse Manager who will be available to address your queries. Additionally, you will have access to our 'Carer App,' a valuable resource for insights and information. In essence, we will provide you with everything necessary to thrive in this fulfilling role.

What We Offer

Each client has distinct needs, so whether you are seeking full-time or part-time hours, night shifts or day shifts, we can offer a suitable opportunity. We are continually enhancing our benefits package to enrich your experience with Sonderwell. Furthermore, if you refer someone who joins our team, you may receive a referral bonus. Our employee assistance program also ensures you have access to support focused on your well-being.

Our Inclusivity Commitment

We are dedicated to cultivating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered. We believe that diversity within our workforce drives excellence, and we strive to create an environment that mirrors the diverse communities we serve. We welcome and encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and will provide accommodations for applicants with disabilities whenever possible.

Are You Ready?

If you are enthusiastic about the opportunities a career in care presents and believe you are well-suited for this role, we would love to hear from you. We are committed to ensuring a fair and equitable hiring experience and will provide necessary accommodations throughout the interview process.
