About the Role

Jupiter Asset Management Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert advice on legal issues across the business, including asset management, contractual arrangements, and regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general advice on legal issues, including asset management, contractual arrangements, and regulatory matters.
  • Work closely with other members of the team, Risk & Compliance, and other departments on matters relating to the group's asset management franchise, contractual arrangements, and general legal/regulatory matters.
  • Support the business in complying with regulatory requirements, working closely with the Risk & Compliance Department.
  • Provide legal support on ad hoc projects as required.
  • Assist the other members of the Legal Department in maintaining and growing its know-how and precedent base.
Requirements
  • Financial services experience, ideally within the asset management team of a leading investment management company.
  • Strong working knowledge of UCITS, AIFMD, and MiFID.
  • Practical, first-hand experience of working in and across international markets, ideally including some or all of those markets in which Jupiter Asset Management Ltd has a presence.
  • Excellent drafting, communication (written and verbal) and negotiating skills.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with internal partners and external providers.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritize workload and to work to deadlines.
  • Strong team player who seeks and gives empowerment.
  • Flexible, positive and approachable with a pragmatic approach.
  • Strong computer and technical skills and know-how.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience of working in an in-house environment, whether on secondment or otherwise.
  • Experience and some knowledge of the FCA Handbook.
  • A general understanding of the US regulatory environment as relevant to investment funds and asset managers.

  • Qualified Solicitor with 3-5 years PQE, having qualified within a leading investment management company.
