Hornchurch, Greater London, United Kingdom Division of Surgery – BHRUT NHS Full time

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an MRI Specialist Radiographer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and upholding a safe and effective MRI imaging service, providing support to the management team and working collaboratively with the MRI team of radiographers, students, and support workers.

In return, you will have the opportunity to work in a modern new hospital within a very supportive directorate and further develop your skills and practice.

Our Radiology Department is one of the largest in the region, with seven CT scanners and a large ultrasound department. We have seven MRI scanners across BHRUT and a rental MRI scanner to meet the increasing demand for referrals.

BHR is one of the largest associate teaching hospitals, providing acute care for over 1,000,000 people from across two main sites – Queen's and King George Hospital. Our hospitals are situated in convenient locations, with good transport links and local amenities.

Main Duties of the Job

The post-holder will lead the technical/radiographer staff and further develop an efficient MRI service for BHRUT. This will involve participating in the effective day-to-day running of the MRI service, standardizing protocols, managing patient bookings and waiting lists, and managing radiographers and radiology support workers.

The post-holder will also ensure that the MRI service is maintained with training of staff to perform in accordance with Trust policies, including comprehensive competency assessments. In conjunction with the MRI Superintendent Radiographer, the post-holder will promote continuous improvements in service delivery and quality within all areas of the MRI service.

Working for Our Organisation

We are an organisation that is committed to delivering care that we are proud of and that our patients are happy with. We have made significant improvements in recent years, including being the most improved Trust in England for A&E performance in 2023/24. Our staff come from diverse backgrounds, and we are proud to be a London Living Wage employer.

We operate from two main sites – King George Hospital and Queen's Hospital – and have two of the busiest emergency departments in London. We are looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year, which will make things easier for staff and better for patients.
