Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement evaluations for cutting-edge AI technologies. This role involves assessing safety-related capabilities, analyzing the security of systems, and evaluating their societal implications.Create innovative governance tools for AI. You will develop practical frameworks and methodologies to assess the safety and societal impacts of advanced AI systems, while anticipating future research needs in AI governance.Enhance information sharing. Establish effective communication channels between the Department and various national and international stakeholders, including policymakers and partners.

Role Description:

The Senior Software Engineer will play a crucial role in developing evaluations for next-generation AI systems. You will work on a variety of essential products and infrastructure, including the core evaluation framework, advanced AI agents, and complex orchestration for cybersecurity assessments.

Responsibilities Include:

Your work will encompass both the foundational platform and the specific research teams. This requires a diverse skill set, including:

Creating user-friendly interfaces and secure red-teaming frontends.Providing efficient and secure inference channels for various models.Implementing ML operations for hosting and fine-tuning AI models.

Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with scientists, domain experts, and research engineers to develop innovative evaluation tools that incorporate the latest research while ensuring high standards of privacy and security.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates should possess significant experience in one or more of the following areas:

Frontend or Tools DevelopmentBackend / API DesignDevOps / ML Operations / ML InfrastructurePrivacy and Security EngineeringEngineering Management & Leadership
