Job Title: Deputy Food Retail Manager

A dynamic and rewarding opportunity has arisen in our unique food retail setting. As Deputy Food Retail Manager, you will play a key role in supporting our Food Hub Manager and ensuring the smooth operation of our food retail projects.

About the Role

This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to process incoming food deliveries, sort food for the shop and deliveries, and maintain a well-stocked shop. You will be responsible for ensuring our hub is run safely and securely for volunteers and the public, and for guiding and training volunteers of all backgrounds.

You will also be responsible for maintaining an inclusive and welcoming approach in our charitable community, and for following processes related to waste management, freezer/chiller temperature regulations, and other tasks to maintain our high EHO rating.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process incoming food deliveries and sort food for the shop and deliveries
  • Ensure the hub is run safely and securely for volunteers and the public
  • Guide and train volunteers of all backgrounds
  • Maintain an inclusive and welcoming approach in our charitable community
  • Follow processes related to waste management, freezer/chiller temperature regulations, and other tasks to maintain our high EHO rating
  • Help interview new volunteers and manage the volunteer database
  • Assist with social media posts for our shop sessions
  • Oversee management processes
Requirements

We are looking for someone with food retail experience, a strong understanding of food safety and allergy issues, and management experience. You should be IT literate and able to perform basic database and social media tasks. A willingness to work over the seasonal period is also essential.
