Position Overview

The mechanical maintenance division at Tata Chemicals Europe is in search of a skilled technician with a background in mechanical upkeep, rigging, lifting, and fabrication, preferably acquired in a heavy industrial setting. This role operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with on-call responsibilities shared among team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, overhaul, and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct mandatory overhauls and inspections.
  • Implement and execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Reduce downtime while enhancing production reliability.
  • Provide on-call support as part of a rotating team (salary includes an on-call allowance, with overtime compensation for emergency call-ins).
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a proactive attitude and a strong commitment to safety, recognizing the importance of equipment availability in a continuous manufacturing environment.

  • Completion of an Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 / ONC standards in a relevant mechanical field.
  • Experience in installing pipework, rotating machinery, packaging lines, centrifugal pumps, and large industrial fans.
  • Proficient in rigging, lifting, and slinging using overhead cranes and other manual handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with bucket elevators, band conveyors, and drag link conveyors.
  • Skilled in the use of various hand tools.
  • Experience with vessel work, including preparation for pressure vessel inspections.
  • Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings.
  • Fabrication skills, including arc welding and oxy-fuel cutting.
  • Knowledge of steam turbines, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressors, and familiarity with welding and forklift operation is advantageous.
