About the Role

Kier Construction is seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in a key role that will play a pivotal part in the success of our construction projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a challenging and rewarding position that will involve managing and optimizing project costs from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Planning and Commercial Management: Lead the cost planning and commercial management of projects from inception to completion, ensuring value for money while adhering to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans to ensure accurate financial projections and management of project finances.
  • Procurement and Contract Management: Oversee and manage procurement processes, including tender preparation and evaluation, and negotiate and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Risk Management and Cost Control: Conduct comprehensive risk, value management, and cost control exercises to identify and mitigate potential risks and ensure project financial stability.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Monitor project finances, manage variations, and prepare detailed financial reports to ensure accurate financial management and decision-making.
  • Health and Safety and Quality Management: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards, and mentor and provide guidance to junior quantity surveyors and other team members.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure project success and effective communication.
Requirements
  • Education and Qualifications: Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience and Skills: Have extensive experience as a quantity surveyor, ideally within a main contracting environment, and possess strong knowledge of construction processes, contract law, and industry regulations.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Have a proven track record in cost planning, budget management, and financial reporting, and be proficient in using industry-specific software and tools.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Have leadership experience and be able to mentor junior team members, and possess excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
