The University of York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Curriculum Area Leader for History. As a key member of our Education Department, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) programme.

Responsibilities

As a Curriculum Area Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the History programme, including programme design, execution, and delivery. You will work closely with the Director and other team members to ensure the programme meets the highest standards of quality and excellence.

You will also be responsible for teaching, supervision, assessment, and feedback, as well as recruitment and selection of students. Your expertise in History education will be invaluable in shaping the curriculum and ensuring that our students receive the best possible education.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a first degree and relevant teaching qualification. You should also have substantial knowledge of current issues in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and mentoring, as well as experience of teaching and learning in a Higher Education (HE) context.

You must be able to demonstrate your ability to work effectively in a team, communicate complex ideas clearly, and manage competing priorities. Your passion for History education and commitment to excellence will be essential in driving the success of our programme.
