Payroll Supervisor Job Description

At Payroll Elite, we are seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join our small, friendly payroll team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and processing their payrolls, including weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls.

You will work closely with our Payroll Manager to ensure the smooth operation of our payroll services. Your duties will include liaising with clients, entering payroll data, reconciling payroll to client data, and preparing payroll reports and payslips.

We are looking for a proactive and organized individual with excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail. You will be confident in managing multiple priorities and working to deadlines. If you have experience in client payroll or payroll bureau work and are able to calculate tax, NI, and pensions manually, we would like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with clients and entering payroll data from start to finish
  • Reconciling payroll to client data, getting client approval as appropriate and issuing payroll reports & payslips
  • Reviewing team member's work
  • Preparing payroll journals
  • Reconciling weekly and monthly PAYEF figures
  • Preparing BACS files
  • Administering Pension Auto-enrolment including making appropriate declarations to The Pensions Regulator
  • Producing and distributing pension scheme returns, including notification of changes in members' status and uploading to pension provider
  • Dealing effectively with queries from clients, and HMRC and other parts if the business
  • Assisting with onboarding new clients.

Requirements:

  • Client Payroll / Payroll bureau experience is essential
  • Able to calculate tax, NI, pensions, etc. manually
  • Good working knowledge of statutory family leave, SSP, salary sacrifice, pensions.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Evidence of being a proactive, hands-on team player who is confident in working to changing priorities in a busy department
  • A natural organiser with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Flexibility (busy periods will require working longer hours to meet deadlines)
  • MS office (intermediate Excel)
