Automotive Quality Assurance Engineer

As a key member of the MDE Consultants Ltd team, the Automotive Quality Assurance Engineer will deliver exceptional quality support to both internal and external stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle. This role emphasizes the importance of implementing best practices and quality processes in alignment with industry standards such as IATF16949 and ISO9001, ensuring a seamless transition from product conception to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Review and Analysis:** Conduct thorough evaluations of customer Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents, specifications, and requirements to ensure comprehensive understanding and accurate cost assessments related to Design Verification (DV), Process Verification (PV), and in-process testing.
2. **Technical Review:** Critically assess Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) studies to ensure product integrity.
3. **Documentation Creation:** Develop Quality Standards Manuals and compile supporting evidence for deviation approvals, ensuring compliance with established quality protocols.
4. **Leadership in Quality Management:** Lead by example in adhering to the Quality Management System, fostering a culture of quality excellence within the team.
5. **Inspection Validation:** Specify, validate, and approve inspection gauges and related measurement tools to maintain product quality standards.
6. **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Actively participate in cross-functional teams during the development of new products or engineering modifications, contributing quality insights.
7. **Data Analysis and Reporting:** Gather measurement and attribute data, perform in-depth analyses, and prepare comprehensive reports to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
8. **Training and Guidance:** Provide mentorship on quality best practices and conduct training sessions for team members to enhance overall quality awareness.
9. **Statistical Analysis:** Generate and interpret statistical analyses and capability studies to identify and resolve product quality challenges effectively.
10. **Project Involvement:** Undertake special projects as directed by the NPI Quality Manager or Group Engineering Director, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in quality systems, measurement methodologies, and statistical analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Proficient in interpreting engineering standards and component testing techniques.
- Ability to present data clearly and effectively, utilizing it to inform decision-making within established timelines.
- Previous experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects for major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) or Tier 1 suppliers is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing environments, particularly in plastic injection molding, painting, and assembly processes, is advantageous.
