Job Title: Senior Group Internal Auditor (Construction)
Location: Remote / Hybrid working

Thorn Baker Construction, a leading name in the house building industry, is seeking a Senior Group Internal Auditor to enhance their Group Internal Audit team. Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular assessments of the Group's construction policies and procedural framework, offering recommendations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Foster a collaborative relationship with the Group Construction department and Independent Quality Controllers (IQCs) to gain insights into construction practices and their operational execution.
  • Design an annual risk-based audit plan focused on construction to provide assurance on:
    • The effectiveness and uniformity of the IQC inspection process.
    • The adequacy of the construction quality culture across various operating companies.
    • Additional areas of focus as determined by key stakeholders, including the Board and the Group Construction department.
  • Execute the annual construction audit plan utilizing a mix of desktop reviews, structured interviews (both remote and in-person), and site evaluations.
  • Prepare comprehensive management reports detailing the construction audit findings for inclusion in the Director of Internal Audit's overall reporting to the Audit & Risk Committee.
  • Assist the Director of Internal Audit in managing whistleblowing investigations related to construction activities.
  • Support the Director of Internal Audit in conducting other audits or investigations pertinent to construction.
  • Provide guidance, information, and training concerning audit findings as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in an audit or assurance role within the construction industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively to meet targets and deadlines while working independently.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
