Position Overview

This is a Residential Role with a Permanent Employment Type. Tullow Oil Plc is a prominent, recognized independent oil and gas enterprise focused on Africa. The company holds interests in over 30 exploration and production licenses across 7 countries in Africa and South America.

We are currently seeking a Principal Production Technologist to join our Ghana Business Unit. This role can be based in either Chiswick, London, or Accra, Ghana, and will involve setting the strategic direction for Production Technology and Production Engineering within the Ghana Subsurface. The position reports directly to the Field Developments Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for flow assurance and optimization of gathering networks from the sand face to the separator for the deepwater Jubilee and TEN projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of integrated production systems; assess long-term production chokes and identify solutions to enhance production and resource development.
  • Lead the identification and maturation of intervention and workover opportunities.
  • Oversee the review and development of artificial lift strategies, including design and implementation.
  • Provide Production Technology insights and analysis for Ghana BU projects, including subsea tie-back developments, facility expansions, and debottlenecking initiatives.
  • Contribute to well planning and execution, including the review of completion designs.
  • Support M&A evaluations on an as-needed basis.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in the oil and gas sector is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Prosper, GAP, and other analytical tools.
  • Strong knowledge and application of production technology and engineering in oil and gas reservoirs.
  • Expertise in flow assurance and production chemistry challenges.
  • Experience with subsea and deepwater development projects.
  • Familiarity with intelligent well completions.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a Production Technology function.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of available technologies and the ability to network across the industry for effective solutions.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering.
  • Master's degree or higher is preferred.
