Job Title: Adult Social Worker

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Adult Social Worker to join our Community Mental Health Team in Widnes/Runcorn. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing and managing complex cases, providing expert opinion and autonomy, and working with individuals and families to resolve their personal problems and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the need for social work services, including identifying risk and the need for protection, and determining the method of intervention to manage and minimize risk in complex situations.
  • Maintain and update accurate records of work undertaken and carry out required administrative procedures.
  • Prepare high-quality assessments and reports for a range of functions.
  • Attend supervision sessions, staff meetings, and events, and make use of available training and developmental opportunities.
  • Decide or advise on the use of appropriate social care and/or other services, resources, and contribute views on service provision to commissioners where applicable.
  • Comply with statutory obligations of the council.
  • Develop and provide training resources for social workers, support staff, and carers.
Essential Criteria:
  • Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience working within an Integrated Hospital Discharge Team, with the ability to hit the ground running.
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload and make sound decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and organizational skills, with a commitment to collaborative working.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Safeguarding Adults procedures.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems, including knowledge of Eclipse (desirable).
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
