Job Description

Role Purpose

As a key member of our Cyber UK Business Unit, you will be responsible for defining, architecting, designing, developing, documenting, and testing complex FPGA firmware functions and algorithms.

Scope

You will work as part of a 20-strong firmware engineering team, delivering multiple concurrent research, development, and production programs ranging from tens of thousands to several million pounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform requirements analysis and derivation to generate understandable and robust firmware requirements from inbound user and system-level requirements.
  • Produce high-quality and robust firmware designs and architectures to meet firmware requirements and interface specifications.
  • Develop and implement documentation, including specifications, reports, and proposals of a quality commensurate with their end use.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and support to the wider engineering team.
  • Propose and champion ideas for improvement that support innovation and make the engineering organization more efficient.
  • Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual.
  • Provide feedback on firmware development status and cost to complete to the Project Manager and/or Engineering Project Lead.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Degree in an engineering, mathematical, or science-based subject or equivalent experience.
  • Fully proficient in the full life cycle of firmware development, demonstrated on more than one project.
  • Proven experience with engineering design methodologies, such as the 'V' Model.
  • Exposure to coding standards for defense, space, or air worthiness techniques and standards, such as MISRA.
  • Experience in digital electronics and digital logic design.
