Laing O'Rourke is seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team in Dartford. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing financial support to our delivery portfolio and wider business unit management team.
Key Objectives- Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee the preparation and accurate reporting of Joint Venture accounts, adhering to regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance with Laing O'Rourke's accounting policies and procedures.
- Proactively manage cash flow to ensure the company's financial stability.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly business unit P&Ls, cash flows, and balance sheets, including accounting for contract performance and performing variance analysis against budget and forecast.
- Forecasting and Budgeting: Prepare monthly rolling forecasts, quarterly Group submissions, and annual budgets to ensure accurate financial planning.
- Cash Flow Management: Constantly monitor project cash flow forecasts, understand the rationale for significant movements, and communicate changes proactively.
- Internal Controls: Ensure all monthly controls are performed in a timely manner, including balance sheet reconciliations and reviews.
- Joint Venture Finance: Work closely with Joint Venture finance and commercial teams to accurately report JV financial statements on a monthly basis and undertake deep dive reviews of JV financial balances.
- Financial Reviews: Perform financial reviews and credit checks on prospective employers, JV partners, and suppliers, liaising with procurement and commercial to communicate any financial risk and make recommendations.
- Ad-Hoc Project Work: Support the AW Portfolio Finance Team in delivering ad-hoc project work, such as cash maximization, efficiency reviews, new accounting standard implementation, and IT projects.
- Accounting Records: Ensure that accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with statutory obligations and in line with Laing O'Rourke's policies and principles.
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or finalist.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and build and maintain good working relationships.
- Focused on meeting deadlines, with the ability to prioritize workload.
- Committed, enthusiastic, resilient, and collaborative, with a strong team ethic and a desire to share knowledge.
- Strong analytical, flexible, and creative skills, with the ability to research complex issues and solve poorly defined problems in an innovative way with attention to detail.
