Job Title: Band 7 Specialist Oncology Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Acute Oncology team as a Band 7 Specialist Oncology Nurse. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly experienced team, providing advice, support, and emergency care to our Oncology and Haematology patients.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients throughout the trust, including the Emergency Departments and Medical Assessment Units.
  • Provide urgent review of acute oncology patients and ensure appropriate pathways of care are actioned.
  • Participate in Telephone Triage and assessment of patients calling with complications related to their Anti-cancer treatment.
  • Provide advice to patients to manage symptoms or organise assessment or admission to the most appropriate place of care.
  • Run nurse-led HOT Clinics providing assessment for patients with complications of treatment.

Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC Registration.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Relevant mentoring training.
  • Recruitment and selection training.
  • Significant experience at a Band 6 level in oncology/haematology.
  • Knowledge of national oncology targets and initiatives.
  • Sound knowledge of trust guidelines particularly in relation to oncology.
  • Experience/evidence of coordinating a clinical area.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and when to take action.
  • Ability to safely use medical devices and other equipment required for nursing practice.
Additional Criteria:
  • Full UK driving licence.
